Light therapy, also known as the science of photobiomodulation (PBM), is a safe, natural, non-invasive modern approach to creating positive changes in the cells and controlling pain with zero side effects. PBM has been proven effective for a wide range of therapeutic and rejuvenating uses including: anti-aging, hair loss prevention & regrowth, skin conditions, wound care, and pain relief. NASA has conducted extensive studies on the use of red light therapy and the FDA has approved it as an anti-aging treatment in addition to having numerous other benefits.
PBM works because the body’s tissues can absorb different type of lights at a cellular level. Once absorbed, the light is converted to cellular energy (known as ATP), thereby stimulating the body’s natural processes. Many studies have shown that this light energy accelerates activity in the mitochondria (the part of the cell that generates protein, collagen, and healing materials) as well as improving blood flow in the area being treated, speeding healing and minimizing pain.
Visible red light is capable of penetrating the skin to a depth of about 8 to 10 mm because the light is not blocked by blood or water as much as other wavelengths. Once absorbed, the light energy is converted to cellular energy kicking off a whole series of metabolic events. Additionally, the brain receives signals to release endorphins (natural pain killers) and serotonin into the body.
At Cryo Lounge we use the most technically advanced Photobiomodulation device on the market today. Our Multiwave PBM systems will mix different wavelengths of energy, with the objective of stimulating multiple healing signatures at different depths to specifically stimulate different cell types. Our machine contains these specific light waves, each with different positive effects:
We do not use longer wavelengths like 880 or 940nm that creates heat in the cells. While heat has benefits, it is not our goal to heat cells, we leave that for infrared saunas.
